KALA NERA
With the mountains as a backdrop, green and lush, Kala Nera is full of running fresh water. The place is steeped in a history of myths and mythical creatures, sometimes unfathomable, sometimes magical. The sea, hugging the Pagassitikos Gulf, washes up onto the beach as it stretches the length of Kala Nera. It is a holy place.
Kala Nera is eighteen kilometres from Volos, and just a short distance from Milies, the main village of the municipality. It is, indeed, the perfect place from which to start your excursion, either up into the mountains or out along the coast.
The villages of Milies, Vizitsa, Agios Georgios, Gatzea, Koropi, Afissos, Argalasti, Hania and Tsangarada, are all just a whisper away.
Kala Nera is a well-organised resort with a full range of facilities available. There are rooms, restaurants, tavernas, supermarkets, pharmacies, a butchers shop, bars, a kiosk, a news stand, gift shops, vehicle renting outlets and a community clinic; in short, everything you need.
On the south-eastern side of the beach you can find the mouth of the River Belegrino. The river is the natural border between Kala Nera and the neighbouring village of Koropi.
Organised entertainment take place regularly at Kala Nera: concerts, theatrical events and various other festivals and celebrations create a happy and congenial atmosphere.
Our rooms are located in centre of the village, just a 30-metre walk from the famous Blue Flag beach of Kala Nera. There are wonderful sea views and the area boasts plane trees, poplar trees and eucalyptus trees, all flourishing in the tranquility and fresh air of this well-organised Pelion holiday resort (
360 Panorama).
